What is the Goal of the Conference?


The purpose of the conference is to (1) explore what motivates people to act ethically, and then to (2) identify strategies to build on these learnings and that help to spark people's moral imagination and sensibility.


Who Should Attend?


The conference is open to all and will likely be of special interest to those working to promote health, well-being and quality of life. In particular, administrators, policy-makers, care providers – including physicians, nurses, social workers, spiritual care providers, psychologists and many other allied health and social service professionals - as well as members of clinical ethics committees may find this a well-spent day. Members of the public are also strongly encouraged to attend.


Topics


The day will involve learning through a mix of presentation and discussion. Topics include:

  • Promoting Compassion in the Clinical Setting

  • Promoting Ethics Through Humour

  • From Detached Concern to Empathy: Humanizing Medical Practice

All accepted registrants will be sent a confirmation, by e-mail or fax, of their registration within ten days of receipt of their registration form.

Cancellations and Substitutions
Cancellations received on or before May 5 will be refunded the full registration fee less a $10 administration charge. No cancellation refunds will be provided after May 5. Name substitutions will be accepted at any time.
