1999 Canadian Bioethics Society Announcement
It has been confirmed that the 1999 Canadian Bioethics Society Conference will be held in Edmonton, Alberta! The key organizers for the Conference, the John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre, St. Joseph's College Ethics Centre, and the Provincial Health Ethics Network have established a Conference Planning Committee of individuals from across Alberta! Dr. Vangie Bergum has been appointed Conference Chair and has already begun the planning process for this 'Alberta Initiative!' The conference is expected to have 400 - 500 registered delegates from across Canada. Re-naming of the Bioethics Centre
In January 1998, the University of Alberta was pleased to announce the official re-naming of The Bioethics Centre to the John Dossetor Health Ethics Centre, honouring the years of extraordinary work that Dr. John Beamish Dossetor has dedicated to healthcare ethics at the University of Alberta, the community of Edmonton, and the province of Alberta. The Centre is organized under the aegis of the Coordinating Council of Health Sciences, and Dr. Vangie Bergum and Dr. Paul Byrne have been appointed Interim Co-Directors.
